    Chick Fil-A Firestorm

Let me first start by saying: This picture makes me SICK!  Seriously, as a Christian I want to hide in a closet of my own vomit because of stuff like this.

You tell me, what's more important: people coming to know Jesus or the future of Chick-fil-A?  I for one choose people coming to know Jesus.

We are too easily riled up as a people.  We are hotheads with big red buttons that the world just wants to push because we are like the 5 year old whose toys are fun to steal due to the reaction we get when the toy is stolen.

The world has stolen our toy and we are crying like little 5 year olds.

    STOP!

Was Cathy mis-quoted?  Yes, in fact he was.
Was Jesus ever mis-quoted?  Yes, he also was misquoted.

What's the "Christian communities" response to such a misquoting?

    PANDAEMONIUM

    What was Jesus' response?

    SILENCE

Look, I truly believe Satan is trying to get us off track. He desires to strip us of our focus and freak us out about this silly stuff in the fog.  I wrote a post called The Homosexual Fog which shares my thoughts on how Satan is clouding the Christian world with the issue of homosexuality and marriage to the detriment of the Gospel.

An acquaintance of mine wrote a thought provoking blog that shares why he will eat more Chick-fil-A Here: Mark Allen Chick-fil-A and his reasoning is good.

However, something as dumb as this picture above coming out makes me quiver.  I know Chick-fil-A didn't make this poster but I have seen it all over Facebook by people who are Christians!  One thing I know is that Jesus hung out with the dirty, drug doing people...he didn't avoid them or CELEBRATE them not hanging out with him.

Another reason this poster ticks me off is because it assumes that if someone is for gay rights all of the sudden they are debauched, and derelict people who are the scum of the earth.  This picture paints that ideology great and when Christians repost it they are saying to the world: All people supporting gay marriage are trash and God hates you, so I will go where my "clean" people are and eat an oily, unhealthy meal for Jesus sake....

I know I am going down rabbit trails a bit but this is just mind-numbing.  Yes I will eat Chick-fil-A still because I like the food, even if it is bad for me.  NO, I will not go August 1st and no I will not support Chick-fil-A over the cause of sharing a loving Jesus to a hurting, angry and cynical world.

If we would've been a bit more Christ like in the silence after misquoting bit...this would've all blown over by now....Just saying.

Thank you for being the voice of reason Marvin. Christians have been acting very immaturely about this issue.

Personally I wish Christians could understand the difference between civil rights and endorsing something they don't agree with. I feel like it's Jim Crowe all over again with the gay marriage issue.

As long as pastors are not forced to bless or marry gay couples, I have no problem with making gay marriage legal for the whole USA. We can't expect a melting pot culture such as ours to share our values and morals. It is contrary to the way of Christ to strong arm and force our beliefs on others through legislation. Jesus washed feet, he didn't take over the government.

Though I don't think Jesus' response was silence, but rather, TRUTH. If He had been silent, He would not have been crucified. He was crucified for speaking the truth!

57 Then those who had seized Jesus led him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had gathered. 58 And Peter was following him at a distance, as far as the courtyard of the high priest, and going inside he sat with the guards to see the end. 59 Now the chief priests and the whole council[h] were seeking false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death, 60 but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. At last two came forward 61 and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to rebuild it in three days.’” 62 And the high priest stood up and said, “Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?”[i] 63 But Jesus remained silent. Matthew 26:57-63 ESV

    Read on: Mark 14:61-64

61 But He kept silent, and made no answer. Again the high priest was questioning Him, and saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" 62 And Jesus said, "I am; and you shall see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING WITH THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN." 63 And tearing his clothes, the high priest said, "What further need do we have of witnesses? 64 "You have heard the blasphemy; how does it seem to you?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.

Yes, he was silent sometimes, but not all times. He is known for speaking the truth, He was not known for being silent. If he was always silent, we would not have the New Testament!

He often spoke out about the deplorable actions of others:

    Just read MATTHEW 23:1-37!

Yes, he spoke truth, of course he spoke out, come on! the post never said he always kept silent. He, when MISQUOTED the poster said kept Jesus silent. And that reference was at the Pharisees for their religious attitudes and the way in which they lived as if they were righteous but actually were NOT righteous...

Tom, I disagree. We can't call all to Holiness because only those indwelled with the Spirit can be holy. Trying to make someone holy without giving folks the key to the power of such living is folly. Even we, when we don't allow the Spirit to live through us can accomplish nothing. Also, Jesus was talking to religious leaders, people who thought themselves on the inner track with God, this is not that at all. Sure they were "cultural leaders" and I see where you are coming from with that angle but I still don't think you can com at it from that angle here. We stand up for injustices called against us, but what about the injustice that prevails against the poor? the broken? the lost? Why are we not having a Chick-Fil-A day to raise money and awareness there? Sure we do that often but never at this scale. Why are Christians more apt to stand up for themselves than the ones who are truly going through injustice? A couple of lies and spun stories were done against us...so what! People are dying because of injustices done against them...in the scheme of it all this is no big deal and if we would have turned the other cheek it would've gone away.

I will go and tell them I support them but because the owner stood up for his beliefs by simply honestly answering a question posed to him during an interview. He didn't bash anyone or say they couldn't come to his restaurant! He wasn't a biggot or rude as far as I could tell. I wouldn't avoid saying that their stand for their belief was a good choice, but I would apologize for the behavior of so many Christians who are being biggots. As the Word tells us, don't grow weary in doing good things! You have to keep encouraging those who do, and help to stop the chaos that comes from people who just thrive on drama & fear/hate. I say, good for the owner for voicing his belief, but pooh pooh on many Christians and those in the Homosexual community for blowing it WAY out of proportion.
