Let me first start by saying: This picture makes me SICK! Seriously, as a Christian I want to hide in a closet of my own vomit because of stuff like this.
You tell me, what's more important: people coming to know Jesus or the future of Chick-fil-A? I for one choose people coming to know Jesus.
We are too easily riled up as a people. We are hotheads with big red buttons that the world just wants to push because we are like the 5 year old whose toys are fun to steal due to the reaction we get when the toy is stolen.
The world has stolen our toy and we are crying like little 5 year olds.
STOP!
Was Cathy mis-quoted? Yes, in fact he was.
Was Jesus ever mis-quoted? Yes, he also was misquoted.
What's the "Christian communities" response to such a misquoting?
PANDAEMONIUM
What was Jesus' response?
SILENCE
Look, I truly believe Satan is trying to get us off track. He desires to strip us of our focus and freak us out about this silly stuff in the fog. I wrote a post called The Homosexual Fog which shares my thoughts on how Satan is clouding the Christian world with the issue of homosexuality and marriage to the detriment of the Gospel.
An acquaintance of mine wrote a thought provoking blog that shares why he will eat more Chick-fil-A Here: Mark Allen Chick-fil-A and his reasoning is good.
However, something as dumb as this picture above coming out makes me quiver. I know Chick-fil-A didn't make this poster but I have seen it all over Facebook by people who are Christians! One thing I know is that Jesus hung out with the dirty, drug doing people...he didn't avoid them or CELEBRATE them not hanging out with him.
Another reason this poster ticks me off is because it assumes that if someone is for gay rights all of the sudden they are debauched, and derelict people who are the scum of the earth. This picture paints that ideology great and when Christians repost it they are saying to the world: All people supporting gay marriage are trash and God hates you, so I will go where my "clean" people are and eat an oily, unhealthy meal for Jesus sake....
I know I am going down rabbit trails a bit but this is just mind-numbing. Yes I will eat Chick-fil-A still because I like the food, even if it is bad for me. NO, I will not go August 1st and no I will not support Chick-fil-A over the cause of sharing a loving Jesus to a hurting, angry and cynical world.
If we would've been a bit more Christ like in the silence after misquoting bit...this would've all blown over by now....Just saying.
